Connect without a Router

Note: The iPhone 3.x firmware currently has a bug whereby peer-to-peer connections (of the sort described in the guides below) do not work beyond a few minutes at a time.  This used to work flawlessly in the 2.x firmware.  Until Apple fixes this bug, here's what you can do on an iPhone: enable AirPlane mode, and then enable WiFi and then continue with the rest of the guide.  By closing cellular connectivity, the problem goes away.  Of course, this is not an ideal fix, and we have reported this bug to Apple and are working with them to solve it.
